My husband and I are moving to Tecumseh, Michigan in July. A BUSY BUSY summer ahead full of teaching, art making, shows, travel, and now a move! I guess it’s true what they say, rest is for the weak! So I practically squealed with delight when I recieved this email this morning:

Before the City completely closes down for the ‘Bank Holiday Weekend,’  we wanted to inform you of some exciting news updates regarding the Biennial.

Firstly, we would like to announce the inclusion of the venerable Ms. Yoko Ono as a participant in the Biennial. Yoko’s participation is a huge honour and she has submitted her ‘Wish Tree for Ireland’  project for exhibition..

Yoko is one of the 50 participating artists from around the world, artists, representing  21 countries, Austria, Armenia, Brazil, China, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Korea, Ireland, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA.

The Artworks selected for exhibit, over 120 pieces, covers the entire range of Artistic disciplines, installation, painting, performance, photography, mixed media, and video installation work.

Due to the size and the amount of Artworks entered, the number of installation/mixed media pieces, and the volume of large
paintings submitted, the Biennial Committee and Sol Art Gallery have decided to move the location of the Exhibition to a much larger Gallery space.

We are delighted to announce the new ‘POP-UP’ Biennial Gallery –  located in The Point Village, comprising 3 Gallery areas, totaling in excess of 8,000 square feet,  (triples the current space) this new venue will more adequately house the scale of this Exhibition.

Conveniently located in Dublin 1, The Point Village Docklands area is 10 to 15 minutes walk to O’ Connel Street and Grafton Street, and a few steps from the Luas line.  The new Gallery is spacious, and thankfully comes without the ‘headache’ of historic preservation orders!!!  Showcasing Contemporary Art in a more Modern space is new to Ireland and certainly will be most favourably received!!!!  We look forward to a stunning Exhibition of Contemporary Art in a Contemporary space.

As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been accepted into the Dublin Biennial. While this is super exciting, it is also very expensive to print, mount, and ship large works of art internationally. In an attempt to off-set this cost, I’ve launched a kickstarter page to help raise the funds needed to make the prints and ship them. Any and everything helps!

The minimum contribution is $1. But, for contributions of 25, 50, 100, or 200 I have incentives such as signed prints, DVDS, and limited edition prints of my work available.

Dublin Biennial 2012

Ireland’s Inaugural Dublin Biennial 2012: An International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, featuring video and photography by multi-media artist Erin Zerbe.

The exhibit is the first INTERNATIONAL ARTIST BIENNIAL to be held in DUBLIN, IRELAND and will showcase the work of award-winning and critically distinguished contemporary Artists working in the International Biennial arena. Selected and juried, the Exhibition aims to highlight and promote the cultural diversity and universal dialogue expressed by international Artists.

Opening on James Joyce’s world celebrated Bloomsday, 16th June, the inaugural ceremony will be officially opened by The Office of The Lord Mayor of Dublin. As host, SOL ART GALLERY is ideally situated in the heart of Joycean Dublin, and is one of the City’s most distinguished Galleries, representing some of Ireland’s top leading Artists.

The exhibition runs from 15th June – 24th June 2012

Penn State University

I will be speaking at the 2012 WSGO (Women’s Studies Graduate Organization) Conference at PennState on March 24th 2012. My panel called: Fatness and Performance, will showcase my work, and how it relates to issues of Feminist Research and body image issues.

Feminist Action Project

I will be presenting my work and giving an artist talk at the Feminist Action Project Conference at UT-Austin March 30-31, 2012. My panel, The Stigma of Size: Representations of Fatness in the Performance Art of Erin Zerbe, will include photography, video, and performance documentation, followed by discussion.

Museum of Contemporary Art - VA

Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (formerly the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia) is having a juried exhibition called New Waves 2012 featuring the work of up and coming Virginia Artists.
